Support Octobriana
Breaking from the paranormal fiction for a minute: a good friend of mine, Steve Orlando, is a published graphic novelist. His latest work, drawn by Chaz Truog, is a re-imaging of Octobriana and is currently up on Kickstarter, trying to raise funds to publish the trade paperback of the series. Head over to the Octobriana project Kickstarter page to learn more about this project (and while you’re there, back it!). The fund raising ends on May 24, 2010—so check it out soon.
A little more info about the project from the Kickstarter page:
The book is an action-filled fantasy piece that follows the heroine, Octobriana, on her quest to claim her title as the goddess of lust. Set in Soviet Russia, the story reflects Octobriana’s origin in an underground protest zine which stood up for sexual expression. With chapters full of sex, psychics, and Russian mythology, this new incarnation written by indie comics writer Steve Orlando (HOPE: New Orleans anthology, Outlaw Territory), and illustrated by Chaz Truog (Animal Man with Grant Morrison) looks to be a titillating thrill.
You can also learn more about the project and the people involved in this Octobriana press release from the publisher, Poseur Ink or at the Octobriana Web site. And if you’re really intrigued by Steve’s work, like I am, check out his blog, House Spirit Press, which has info about and links to other projects he’s working on.
No, I’m not getting paid for this post. Just helping out a friend and a great project.
